Oh, snap.

Apparently, I really suck at keeping a yarn blog.

I barely have time for the knitting lately- the only knitting I've been doing has been procrastination knitting, used to put off the writing of papers, etc, until the last possible moment.

I even left the Lacy Dress in progress at my boyfriend's house while he's out of town so that I could get some non-knitting work done. But ohhhhh, no- I started not one other project, but two!

Breeze socks and a Brea Bag.

In my defense, the Brea is intended to be a Christmas present.

Red Heart, be gone!

Done! Done Done!
Soooo glad to be done with this hideous piece of warmth. Oh, is it warm. And ugly. And far too long.
But, purpose achieved: A small chunk of stash is no longer overflowing from my closet.
Awesome.

And now, on to prettier knitting. Here's all 11 rows of progress on the Lacy Dress:

Closer to Progress

My yarn for the Lacy Dress arrived yesterday! No surprise, as I had a sneaky suspicion that the UPS guy would leave my package out in the rain, as he always does. It would make sense that my package of yarn would arrive in a HURRICANE! Luckily, it was later in the day, after the rain had calmed down. He actually knocked on the door and placed the package in my hands! (Usually the delivery guys knock and run for their lives, leaving the package out on the porch.)

All that's left is to journey to the LYS in a bit in search of 40" size 6 circulars.

Finished the Oversized Striped Hoodie of Doom. I got a bit carried away with the length, and it's pretty hideous, but hey, it's warm and my stash has diminished. Purpose achieved.

Pictures of the hideousness coming soon.

Delay Fish

My plans to cast on for the lacy dress last week were thwarted by a lack of crochet cotton stockage at every craft store in town. I even journeyed to the ever-loathed Wal-mart. Still no luck. Same goes in my quest for 40" circulars. It never fails, when I am in need of 16" circs, they are no where to be found in a sea of 29"+ circulars... So, it would make sense that when I need longer circs all I see are 16". Ugh.

DMC Senso cotton have been ordered from DiscountYarnSale.com. I still need to make a trip to the LYS to see if they carry 40" circulars- I suspect they might.

Oh, Patience.

Yarn blog?

I'm new to the blog world- still figuring out how to use this site.

Once my yarn order arrives (a whole bunch of crochet cotton- I'm not brave enough to spend $100 on the recommended yarn), I'll be casting on for the Shirley Paden Lace Dress from the Summer 2007 issue of Vogue Knitting- probably the most ambitious project I've taken on- hence the inspiration to document my progress.

Why "impractical yarn things?"
- I live in South Louisiana, almost any knitting is impractical since there are basically two seasons: Hurricane Season (Extreme heat) and my favorite, Not As Hot (aka "Not Hurricane Season")। I only get to wear most of my knit/crocheted items for two or three months out of the year.

And because let's face it, items like this are never practical:

Fun stuff.
